"The Laws Of Motion In Tennis"

ravis-court-may

The Fundamental Law of Motion play a huge role in understanding tennis fundamentals. The first Law of Motion states that anybody will stay at rest or stay in motion until acted upon by an outside force. In tennis, many players stay low in a crouched ready position and become too fixed making movement difficult... the key is to push-off the ground to get a quick jump on the ball.

The second Law of Motion states that force equals mass times acceleration. This means that since mass is usually constant during a movement, the more force you provide the more you will accelerate. In tennis, a linked system is used to create tremendous force which is transferred up through the legs, hips, trunk and upper body to forcefully strike the ball.

The third Law of Motion states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. In tennis when serving, you push against the ground and the ground pushes back with an equal and opposite force. There are many more other examples of how each law plays a role in tennis.

I encourage you to try to study and understand how they work to help your movements on the court. It is just as important to find-out how they work to hurt your movement on the court as a player.
