Job Title:
Assistant Manager

Job Description:
The Assistant Club Manager is responsible for supervising the lifeguard and swim lesson staff during recreational swim months, assist the manager in facility maintenance, and assist the Club Manager with Club operations.

Applicants must be able to work evenings, weekends, Memorial Day, and 4th of July.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma. Some college preferred
  • 5+ years lifeguarding, swim lesson experience, customer service experience
  • Ability to supervise, communicate with, and direct staff. Work well with public.
  • Current Certifications in the following:
    • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid
    • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer
  • Pre-employment testing of lifeguarding skills and knowledge

Knowledge and Skill:

  • Thorough knowledge of aquatic facility operations
  • An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures
  • Leadership and public relations skills
  • Decision-making skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft office and computer work

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise lifeguard and swim instructor staff, complete performance reviews, and recommend wage increases as appropriate
  • Assist Club Manager in overall operation of ASRC including managing office procedures which include dues collection, membership sales, newsletter production, general planning and scheduling of staff and events
  • Responsible for understanding how to operate and maintain all three pools and all equipment. Maintain proper chemical levels. Order, purchase, and safely store all chemicals necessary for maintaining and operating all pools
  • Responsible for maintenance of all club buildings and grounds. Manage and schedule third- party maintenance personnel
  • Plan, organize, set up, and supervise ASRC social events such as Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, club social events and private parties
  • Ensure the safety of ASRC members, non-members, guests, and other patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies
  • Assist or teach Red Cross lifeguard and first aid certification classes, including performing workplace skills audits
  • Manage ASRC summer swim lesson program

Lifeguard

Job Description:
Responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies

Applicants must be able to work evenings, weekends, Memorial Day, and 4th of July.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current Certifications in the following:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and
  • Pre-employment testing of lifeguarding skills and knowledge

Knowledge and Skill:

  • Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
  • An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures
  • Leadership and public relations skills
  • Decision-making skills

Responsibilities:

  • Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies
  • Maintain a professional appearance
    • Red Swimming shorts or Red swimming suit (ladies) with Guard logo
    • Sunglasses, Sunscreen (SPF 30), Whistle
  • Enforce and abide by all aquatic facility and employment policies, rules, and regulations
  • Inspect the facility on a daily schedule and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the Assistant or Club Manager
  • Participate in regular in-service training sessions
  • Facility maintenance, upkeep, and safety
  • Complete records and reports daily
    • Lifeguard Duties Checklist
    • Pool Chemical Logs
    • Accident Reports
  • COMPLETE ADDITIONAL DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY SUPERVISOR.

Pay – Starting $16.00 to Negotiable Based on experience

Job Title:
Swim Instructor

Job Description:
Teach group and private swim lesson for the Almaden Swim and Racquet Club. Swim lessons start Monday June 11th and end August 16th. Swim lessons are held Monday – Thursday between 10am and 7pm with a 4 to 5 hour shift for instructors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current Certifications in the following:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer
    • Preferred American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
  • Swim team or prior swim lesson teaching experience

Knowledge and Skill:

  • Ability to safely and effectively teach groups and private swim lessons
  • Good communication skills for children and adults
  • Effective time management
  • Ability to teach all strokes and dives
