FROM THE BOARDby Steve Spring, President

I trust you are all eating your leftover Halloween candy and planning for Thanksgiving later this month. We all have some much to be thankful for.

I am thankful for the fantastic progress our ASRC board has made in 2014 on a number of initiatives designed to strengthen all of our members’ ownership share/value in ASRC. For those who have been to the club in the last couple of weeks, I hope you've noticed the completed pool deck resurfacing. As you will recall from my prior monthly communications, we’ll be upgrading the pool deck furniture early in 2014 in time for the busy spring and summer months.

We kicked off our board approved landscaping renovation project on Monday November 4th. As Dan communicated in his recent member update, we anticipate the project will take approximately four weeks to complete. In addition to significant long-term irrigation cost savings, the landscaping changes should favorably alter the overall appearance of our club immediately and for years to come.

In other board approved capital improvements, after reviewing several bids, we are close to signing a contract to renovate the tennis deck and bleacher areas (between courts 3 and 4) and anticipate kicking this project off in a few weeks.

As we continue the process of securing a conditional use permit for ASRC, I met with councilman Johnny Khamis on October 30th. Your board’s ongoing focus throughout calendar year 2013 coupled with the dedication of our architect have resulted in a very favorable response from City Hall as we track towards the formal acceptance of our use permit filing later early in 2014. We will provide a complete update at our annual meeting to be held on the 24th of November at 3PM in the dining room at the Almaden Country Club. A key milestone will be our final community meeting scheduled for early December. I encourage you to attend our annual meeting to learn how you can contribute or our success.

We can only be successful if we hear from you, our members. Please reach out to Dan (dchapman@asrc.org) or myself (slspring67@gmail.com) with any questions, thoughts or constructive feedback.

See you at the club.
