FROM THE BOARDby Steve Spring, President

Greetings fellow ASRC members; I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing holiday season and is looking forward to the New Year. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as your board president for the upcoming 2013 calendar year.

As my predecessor John Green summed up in his December communication, we oversaw a tremendous amount of change during 2012. The work started in 2011 to spin off the swim team, a team that in terms of number of swimmers had outgrown the confines of our six lane pool, was completed as was the revamping of the tennis program to return it to the black versus running in the red. We also made significant progress on the renovation project initially approved by the club members in 2010.

My goal for 2013 in working with my fellow board members as well as club manager Dan Chapman is to build upon the momentum in each of these areas. In particular, we expect more key milestones on the renovation project this year. For details, please visit our website and check out our proposed renovation to see the plans.

As a volunteer board, our responsibility is to make decisions in the general best interest of the club membership at large. Our membership is diverse and rest assured we do not make decisions without a significant amount of thought and discussion. I’d like to welcome two new members to this year’s board, Kathy Jussen and Dan Pascal. We still have one slot remaining to fill this current board. Please contact me (slspring67@gmail.com) or Dan (dchapman@asrc.org) to explore how you can help make a difference.

We can only be successful if we hear from you, our members. Please reach out to Dan or myself with any questions, thoughts or constructive feedback. See you at the club.
